B. 1990

Fared Manzur (b. 1990; lives and works Miami, FL) is a painter and sculptor who creates illuminated lamp sculptures staged in the Rice Hotel, a vacated space in Downtown Miami which the artist converted into his studio and exhibition space. Manzur considers his first artwork the process of making the hotel habitable, and his practice continues to respond to the history, architecture, and tonalities of the space, as well as his own sculptures and the areas they illuminate. On occasion he stages exhibitions that pace the trajectory of his ongoing investigation of space, time, light and awareness in parallel to a display of his work. Rice Hotel also functions as an anchor in the community where he hosts other artists.
