Ted Gahl creates intuitive paintings, embedding personal imagery within art historical explorations. The soft scumbled and scrubbed quality of Gahl’s compositions locate them in scenes of subconscious activities—reveries, dreams, and memories—while also feeling immediate and fresh.

Gahl’s work has been shown at Queens Museum of Art, Halsey McKay, and Storefront Bushwick, as well as at Green gallery in Milwaukee, Middlemarch in Brussels, Dan Graham in Los Angeles, and Cirrus in Los Angeles. Gahl currently lives and works in Connecticut, USA.
