Magnus Sodamin is an artist whose lush, nature-inspired paintings explore changing global narratives through spiritual inquiry and spontaneous creativity. Sodamin's works are often specific to a given environment's flora and fauna. He depicts verdant tropical scenes, open vistas, or lonely animal habitats depending on his location, frequently working en plein air to capture the feeling of a setting. The artist lives and works in Miami, making frequent use of the varied and subtropical landscapes dense palms stands, bird-filled salt marshes, and mangrove swamps. He received his BFA in painting with a minor in art history from the New World School of the Arts, Miami in 2012 and additionally spent time developing his painting practice at the Nansenskolen in Lillehammer, Norway, a humanitarian institute that focuses on cross-cultural exchange. In addition to painting, Sodamin's practice include textile, large-scale sculpture, ceramic and drawing. His process is cathartic and vigorous, resulting in paintings that reflect the beauty of the natural world, while depicting various states of climate change, ranging from desolate degraded landscapes to conservationist triumphs.
