John de Fazio has forged an idiosyncratic body of work that collides classic mythologies with popular culture in meticulously crafted objects and collages. His two- and three-dimensional work moves from deconstructing kitsch, camp, and cannabis culture to redefining funerary and crematory urns to interrogating historical figures and events that defined postwar American life.Since the 1980s, de Fazio has emblazoned these objects with depictions of Mickey Mouse, Ronald Reagan and Coca-Cola, transforming them into reliquaries of an era of hyper-consumerism. De Fazio now lives and works in San Francisco.
